Our challenge
In the dense landscape of NGOs, only the big ones draw the most attention. WAPA (War-Affected People’s Association) is not one of them. They battle against the use of child soldiers and for their reintegration in society. An issue that has clearly faded from public consciousness, making the cause feel not urgent at all. So how could we reignite awareness for this humanitarian crisis in a world that seems to be overloaded with crises?
Our solution
Because thousands of child soldiers died last year in complete anonimity, we decided to make their cause heard in complete silence: we created CHUT (meaning: Shhh), an album with 10 Belgian artists, each contributing a minute of silence to amplify the voices of child soldiers lost in combat. Shared on vinyl, in media and on streaming platforms, this quiet act spoke volumes: it raised enough funds to help reintegrate 413 children in safer communities.
It's a wrap for this case, but don't miss out on the others !
